Fusion vs. Cinematic

Some couples know they absolutely want video coverage for their wedding…and for good reason: Not having wedding video is the biggest regret couples have after their wedding day is over. We have been in this business a long time and have heard feedback from both sides. Yes, it’s true that you save some money by NOT hiring video, but you also don’t have anything to watch years down the road. Eventually you will have a family of your own and the video(s) from your wedding are sure to bring lots of laughter and happy tears to you and your loved ones.

Wedding video is an investment.

It’s not necessarily something for the “here and now”, but rather video is something you can watch over and over again both now and in the future and it will bring you right back to the day when it all started. Here at Story Art Weddings we off three styles of video coverage:

  1. Documentary Edits - Two cameras on tripods to capture your ceremony, grand entrance, speeches, first dances, bouquet toss, and garter dance in their entirety.

  2. Fusion Videos - A blend of video + still images + audio. Not too many companies offer fusion videos, so it is truly a unique way to relive your special day.

  3. Cinematic Feature Films - The most compelling wedding video you can have from your wedding. It’s more than a “highlight” video, it’s a storytelling masterpiece!

The following comparison charts show some of the differences between the different styles of video we offer. If you would like more information, we would love to have a virtual meeting or phone call with you - Just use our contact form and we’ll be sure to touch base to answer any questions you may have!

OMG, we are so happy we decided to go with video for our wedding, everything turned out so great!

Fusion Video

  • More economical than a full cinematic feature film

  • One dedicated videographer that accompanies the photographer (Jon)

  • Mostly 1 camera angle for video, sometimes 2

  • Some people may not even be able to tell the difference in a fusion video compared to a cinematic feature film

  • The Fusion video service can be added on to a wedding photography package at the last minute - some couples have added this the same week of their wedding!

  • Accompanying documentary videos will be 1 camera angle

  • Runtime of 5-7 minutes

Cinematic Video

  • Higher investment than a Fusion video because much more goes into producing it

  • We use a minimum of 3 camera angles for the ceremony, speeches, first dances

  • We use multiple sound recorders to capture audio from Priest, Groom, Ambient and sometimes even the Bride (hidden in dress)

  • We tend to use more equipment than we would if we shot a Fusion video

  • Compelling Storytelling Cinematic Film that will include highlights of the day

  • Accompanying documentary edits (ceremony, speeches, first dances in their entirety) will be multi-cam edits…meaning we will use 3 or more camera angles to make your videos similar to a movie or TV show.

  • Runtime of 7-9 minutes
